Focus V to Launch Carta Sport E-rig Following Puffco Legal Battle

In an odd turn of events, a lawsuit between two rival vaporizer manufacturers (Puffco and Focus V) will be giving us two new updated model E-rig vaporizers in 2025.

Puffco (Puff Corp.)  and Focus V (parent company SHO Products) first found themselves in court in 2022, when Puff Corp. filed a patent infringement lawsuit against SHO Products, LLC alleging their Carta 2 infringed on the copyright of the Puffco Peak Pro. This case has since been resolved in Puffco’s favor with Focus being forced to sunset their Carta 2, a close competitor with the Puffco Peak Pro, in July of 2025.

A similar lawsuit occurred between Puffco and Kandypens which was much more flagrant with Kandypens buying, disassembling and then returning Puffco Parts with a letter reading ” Thanks for the inspiration”. Along with a false class action lawsuit alleging Puffco was not honoring the warranty on the original Peak Vaporizer.

While no lawsuit is totally amicable and clean, thankfully the Carta 2 , unlike the Oura, was a well received and thought out E-rig which continues to be a best seller in the 710 space. While Focus is being forced to retire Carta 2 production in July 2025 they have two new updated models [ Carta Sport and Carta 3] in the pipeline which do not infringe on Puff Corp’s patent.

Puffco vs kandypens lawsuit

Litigating a patent is a complex and demanding process which takes into consideration the most random nuances you or I would never think of. Now that the ruling has been issued the landscape is much more clear as to what constitutes copyright infringement. The designers at Focus V have carefully engineered the Carta Sport to navigate the intricate legal landscape, ensuring its design avoids potential pitfalls that could lead to any more legal issues.

Previewing the Carta Sport

carta sport carta connect

The Carta Sport is anticipated to launch in April 2025. It boasts some improvements both outside and under the hood which we anticipate will make it just as popular as the Carta 2. Besides the Carta Connect removable air path, the Carta sport is getting a glow up. It is always good to see companies improve their technology over the years as better and more efficient microchips and batteries become available. That is exactly what we are going to get with the Carta Sport.

  • 35% increased battery
  • More efficient power consumption
  • Bluetooth enabled
  • Intelli-Core™ & Intelli-Core™ MAX Compatible
  • Backwards compatible with Carta 2 parts

For the design, the Carta Sport is going to come with a Control Stick. These are the joystick like carb caps which work to improve directional airflow for more efficient dabs. While it is not on the first prototypes Focus V has released and given away on their live stream, it will be on the officially launched Carta Sports.

The neatest thing about the Carta Sport is the removeable air path system dubbed the Carta Connect. This allows for easier cleaning to avoid the resin build up which happens under the silicone above the battery on E-Rig units after considerable use. This will make the Carta Sport an E-Rig which will be not only the easiest to clean on the market but let you get your reclaim the easiest 😉 That is for us economical dabbers who have no shame about hitting that reclaim.

The Carta Sport is anticipated to hit the market at $225 making it a direct competitor with the Puffco Peak at $220. Other features we will not be able to comment on until we ourselves have the Carta Sport in hand. It appears to have a single use control button which will make it harder and more nuanced to operate than the Carta 2 with three control buttons and an OLED screen, but the Bluetooth and app controls will help navigate controls much easier. As for the Carta 2 it will continue to be supported and warrantied with replacement parts and firmware updates readily available so if you want a heavy hitting E-Rig and it’s past July 2025, have no fear you can get the Carta 2 here and will enjoy all the same benefits and support had you purchased the Carta 2 years ago.

Carta 2 Questions & Concerns

We have loved reviewing, using and selling the Carta 2 Vaporizer over here at To the Cloud Vapor Store and are happy to see competition in the concentrate vaporizer / E -Rig market continue. We will continue to sell the Carta 2 with all the 60 day trial period and full manufacturer warranty as long as we have them in stock.

What happens to my warranty if I’ve purchased a CARTA 2?

Your Carta 2 warranty remains unchanged. Focus V will continue to honor all warranties as always.

If I purchase a CARTA 2 now, will it still be supported?

Absolutely. All warranties and support services for the Carta 2 will remain in effect, even after the device is sunset.

Will the Intelli-Core™ atomizer still be available?

Yes, Intelli-Core™ is a cornerstone of the Focus V  product line. It’s compatible with the Carta 2, Aeris, and the upcoming Carta Sport. You’ll continue to have access to both Intelli-Core™ and Intelli-Core™ MAX atomizers for years to come.

What about software updates and app support for Carta 2?

The Carta 2 will continue to be supported by the Focus V App, which means software updates and over-the-air improvements will remain a key part of the user experience. Focus V’s dedicated software team is committed to keeping all your Focus V Vaporizers at the cutting edge
