Boundless CFC 2.0 Review | A Cigar Lover’s Perfect Portable Vaporizer

The CFC 2.0 from Boundless Technology ™improved on some design flaws of the original CFC (back in 2018). These improvements have made the CFC 2.0 Vaporizer one of the best budget vaporizers on the market. It’s ease of use, strong output and price make this vape a solid choice, especially for new users. Though it looks and feels a little bit like a kazoo, the CFC 2.0 will not make a sound while it delivers easy draws and voluminous vapor output at home or on the move. Read our entire CFC 2.0 Review to find out more.

Packaging

The packaging for all Boundless Vapes is purely practical and  functions to the most minimalist intent. The CFC 2.0 is no different. It includes a snug foam compartment for the unit alongside space for hardware and attachments. This is one reason Boundless is able to keep their prices down. Whereas premium vapes such as the Davinci IQ2 or G Pen Roam incorporate alot of functionality and craftsmanship into the original packaging.

Dimensions & Durability

The Boundless  CFC 2.0 Vaporizer is all about usability on the move. Textured grooves improve grip and reduce heat contact. The compact, lightweight body makes this vaporizer very comfortable to carry and conceal. At 5.1” inches long you can stick it anywhere and keep it for easy retrieval.

Loading & Ease of Use

cfc 2.0 chamber size | To the Cloud Vapor Store

Loading the CFC 2.0 is simple in theory, but proves a tad more difficult with loose herb falling outside the chamber on the outer ring where the mouthpiece sits. A simple brush with the Storz & Bickel brush can help dust this off before putting the mouthpiece back on.

With the unit turned off, pop the mouthpiece off to reveal the ceramic herb chamber. The oval shaped chamber capacity emulates the design of the PAX 3, optimizing surface area for conduction heating. For best results, fill the chamber and pack the herb, but not too tightly as this will restrict airflow. The CFC 2.0 can hold roughly .25 grams of herb and an average session will produce 7-10 potent draws.

When it is time to imbibe, turn the CFC 2.0 on by pressing the main power button 5 times. Once the screen turns on, the temperature will appear and immediately start climbing. The unit automatically heats up to the previously set temperature when powered on.

Adjust to the desired heat level (140-446℉) with the 2 small buttons (clicking both simultaneously will change the temp scale from ℃ to ℉). This unit heats up in 20-30 seconds and will display a vapor icon when it’s ready to hit. For best results, wait an additional 20 seconds before starting the session and in between draws.

After extensive experimentation, I discovered the ideal way to pack the Boundless CFC 2.0 Vaporizer is to fill and lightly pack the chamber up to where the ceramic ends. Packing it too tightly restricted airflow, as did packing too full, which resulted in herb sticking to and blocking the mouthpiece screen. Loading the chamber too lightly produced weak draws and ended up wasting herb. Mainly I loaded up and blew threw the herb all at once. I also had a few sessions where I turned it off after a few draws or let it cool down on its own after 5 minutes. I was able to then reheat and finish the session without issue.

Battery Life & Charge Times

The CFC 2.0 runs on an internal 18650 lithium ion battery that takes 3 hours to fully charge. This will give you around 10 sessions at 400℉. While it is not the most durable battery, it is sufficient for a day of heavy use. Be sure to turn the power off between uses to maximize battery life. The chamber in the Boundless CFC 2.0 will begin cooling down after 5 minutes of use and the screen will go black, but the unit will stay on.

To offset this, hold down the main power button for 3 seconds and your session will resume. It is easy to accidentally leave the CFC 2.0 powered on because of the black stand-by screen, so be sure to press the main power button 5 times when each session is finished.

Battery life for the CFC 2.0 was consistently 10 five-minute sessions on a full charge. I found that the unit vaped better when fully charged versus a waning battery.

Despite the long charge times and the blank screen standby mode which can really drain the battery (as you think it is still on) The CFC 2.0 Does offer pass through charging. This is a god send for internal battery powered vaporizers as it lets you use a dead vape by just plugging it in and not having to worry about juicing those batteries back up.

Vapor Quality

Throughout our Boundless CFC 2.0 review the vape produced decent quality vapor; a tad on the hotter and hardy side, but it does offer a good flavor profile at the lower temperatures with a fresh packed chamber and Did exceed  expectations based on the price.

At lower temps (350-375℉) the user will get smooth (relative to other budget vapes) draws with pronounced terpenes. At higher temps (400-430℉) expect warmer vapor on the inhale and billowy clouds on the exhale. The wide mouthpiece ensures clean airflow, but after a few minutes the mouthpiece does heat up.

The water pipe adaptor is a splendid add-on for this device. Simply snap it on in place of the mouthpiece and insert into the female adapter of your favorite water pipe. This will enhance any session by producing a cooler, smoother vapor and allow you to emulate smoking with bigger hits.  The layer cake shape of the CFC 2.0 Water Pipe Adapter will fit any standard 14mm-18mm down stem.

Cleaning

Maintenance is rather easy  with the CFC 2.0 and the biggest hassle is disassembly and reassembly of the heat resistant mouthpiece. With the unit turned off, remove the mouthpiece and empty the spent herb. Use the cleaning brush to get rid of any debris in the chamber or stuck to the mouthpiece screen. Isopropyl alcohol and cotton swabs can then be used to wipe everything spotless. Both the mouthpiece and water pipe adapter can be pulled apart into three separate pieces for detailed cleaning.

Having used it alone and in small groups, it seems personal solo sessions are optimal as those first 5 draws are the most tasty and potent. It is perfect to pack for a single, personal session on the go and you can get many more sessions if you bring enough to repack throughout the day.

The wide mouthpiece is also great. It does not get gunked up and is so easy to clean. The mouthpiece is also separate from the buttons, unlike the PAX3, so nobody gets their dirty fingers where you put your mouth.

The Boundless CFC 2.0 is a great entry level, back up or secondary herb vaporizer.
